From Fat to Fit: 4 Top Training Styles Revealed

February 15, 2019

There are literally thousands of different training programs, which can be overwhelming when you’re trying to find the training program that not only works best for you but also keeps training fun and enjoyable. Before you even start your training journey, you need to consult with a physiotherapist. They will be able to help you create a plan, from an expert perspective. They will tell you if there is any problems, upfront, which will help you in creating a foundation that you can train upon and reach your goals. Once you determine your problem areas, you need to make time and address these.

Styles of Training

Body Building

This can also be referred to as hypertrophy. Many that do this training program, do the muscle “for show”, such as arms, chest, and neck, but forget about your shoulders and legs. These muscles are also very important. The supplement industry focuses all of their advertising at those who are in this training program, and many get sucked into that hype. There are supplements that can help you with your training, but don’t expect to spend $100’s on a miracle drug. It doesn’t exist. A few supplements we do suggest to have around are: Whey Protein, BCAA, and Creatine. These three are low cost and are safe.

This is a high-intensity with constant movement with the goal of better performance. When you sign up with a Crossfit class, you will have a coach that will teach you the foundations before they let you get into the workouts. Before you do this, you need to find an established Crossift club and check the coaches’ credentials that extends beyond the Crossfit arena. Another benefit is that Crossfit is a community of people that are reaching for the same goals that you are. Crossfit gets quite a bit of bad press because they are harshly criticized for having bad form with their lifting which can lead to injuries.

This is the newest training program that bases around the Navy Seal training program with the end goal of training you into a warrior. It is to increase your mental toughness and high-intensity training. This is a program where everyone starts at the beginning as well as the right nutrition. This also has a great community behind it and I feel will explode in the next year.

Power Lifting

Its based around swats, dead lifts, and bench presses with the goal of hitting the ultimate lift. As a beginner you cannot expect to start at the top. Your body is not ready for that, and you will seriously injure yourself. If you want to do this, you shouldn’t start this until a year into your weight training and also find yourself an expert coach.
