By now, I have probably been dubbed The Ketosis King. I'm talking about ketosis, and today I want to break down really quickly how a ketone supplement works, how exogenous ketones really work. But first, what is ketosis? Ketosis is when your body's deprived of carbohydrates, so your body utilizes free fatty acids, fat, as a source of fuel. Converts them into ketones, which are known as beta-hydroxybutyrate, acetoacetate, and acetone. Don't worry, acetone doesn't mean that you're going to go drinking nail polish remover. It doesn't mean that at all.
In this case, we're talking about the exogenous ketone beta-hydroxybutyrate. Now, what that means is if ketones are good and a byproduct of fat metabolism, then taking them through supplement form could be even better because you're getting not just the benefit that you would normally get from being in ketosis in the first place, but you're taking an additional supplement that contains ketones, thereby exacerbating the positive effects of ketosis. You can improve mental performance, you can improve physical performance, and dramatically improve your overall sense of well-being. Now, it does this simply because your body becomes primed to utilize these fats as a source of fuel, and you're basically giving them additional fuel without the calories.
